Timeline
September of Year 4
This is an ideal time to start preparation. At this stage, children begin strengthening their core skills in English and Maths while being gradually exposed to Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning. Our foundational 11+ tuition helps build confidence early without pressure.
September of Year 5
With one year to go until the exams, we begin to focus on developing speed, accuracy and familiarity with the questions. Weekly tuition and regular homework build momentum.
April of Year 5
Our Easter Revision Camp is designed to consolidate knowledge from the first half of the year, address any learning gaps and refine exam techniques. It’s a great opportunity for focused preparation.
May – June of Year 5
Parents must register their child for the 11+ exam via the grammar school consortium website. Registration typically opens in early May and closes in mid June. Without registration, your child will not be able to sit the test.
August of Year 5
Our Summer Revision Camp and mock exams provide final preparation ahead of the real tests. These sessions reinforce core skills and simulate exam conditions to improve timing, focus and exam technique.
September of Year 6
The 11+ exam is usually held in the second week of September. It consists of two papers testing verbal, non-verbal, Maths and English, all under strict time conditions.
October of Year 6
Results are released around mid October. You’ll receive a standardised score and a subject breakdown. This helps guide which grammar schools to list on your child’s application.
31 October of Year 6
Deadline to submit your Secondary School Preference Form to your local council. Grammar schools should be listed in your order of preference.
1 March of Year 6
National Offer Day. You’ll find out whether your child has secured a place at one of their chosen grammar schools based on scores, preferences and availability.
